Blogwork: Hypno

Hi Hypno!

See if you can remember how to use the Past Perfect Continuous. We will talk about this tense and other past forms again in the next lesson. ;)

- - English Exercise - -

Try writing sentences with the following verbs using the Past Perfect Continuous.

1) TO SLEEP + TO RING

2) TO WAIT + TO ARRIVE

3) TO READ + TO KNOCK

Hi Kip,
I hope you are fine.

Below, you will see the answers at the questions :

- I have been sleeping for an hour when the phone rang suddenly

- He has been waiting FOR the bus for twenty minutes when I arrived

- I have been reading my book for an hour when suddenly a man knocked at the door

Concerning a futur lesson, I remain at your disposal for the hours.
I hope to see you very soon ;)

Hi Hypno: Good sentences, but you forgot to use the Past Simple form of the helping verb "to have". I've corrected your mistakes. Is it possible for us to have our next lesson at 16:30 next Satuday? I have another student who needs to have his lesson at an earlier time. Just let me know if that is convenient for you. ;)

X I have been sleeping for an hour when the phone rang suddenly
Correct: I had been sleeping for an hour when the phone suddenly rang.

X He has been waiting FOR the bus for twenty minutes when I arrived
Correct: He had been waiting for the bus for twenty minutes when I arrived.

X I have been reading my book for an hour when suddenly a man knocked at the door
Correct: I had been reading my book for an hour when a man suddenly knocked at/on the door.

Hi Kip,

Thank you for correction, but I think it is YOU who have wrong ;-) Or maybe I have NOT understood.

You wanted that I use the "PRESENT PERFECT CONTINUOUS", and for me it is formed by HAVE + BEEN + VERBing.
You have corrected me like if I would have to make a sentences at the "PAST PERFECT CONTINUOUS".
Please, correct me if what I say is wrong ;)

Kip says : "Is it possible for us to have our next lesson at 16:30 next Satuday?"
Yes, at 16:30, it will be a perfect time.

I hope to see you in SL this week :)

Bye

Hi Hypno! ;)

You are very right. My mistake! I should have asked (J'aurais du...)you to write sentences using the Past Perfect Continuous. That was my intention. ;)
